It’s spring time and the grass is growing quickly. Folks are still trying to shed their winter weight and the world seems new, once again. So as I walked down my long driveway to get the mail this morning, I couldn’t help noticing my neighbor’s pickup heavy laden with two large items. A riding Lawn mower and a brand new treadmill were waiting to be unloaded. Now, living in a middle-class suburban neighborhood doesn’t typically lend itself to large over-sized lawns, and ours is no exception. So I had to pause for a moment and smile at the interesting paradox before me. My friend and neighbor could have easily purchased a much cheaper push mower and saved himself the trouble and expense that comes with the new treadmill, as well. The irony that he would soon be walking indoors to get into shape and sitting outdoors to mow the lawn, made me smile as I turned back towards my house with my newly acquired junk-mail in hand. You see, my neighbor and I are plenty close enough that I can share with him my funny stories and thoughts about the day’s events, but not so close that I could lightly point out the humor I found in his most recent purchase. For now, Like so many of my other thoughts, I’ll just have to keep them to myself. Innovative Insights, I think.
